Karidee and I spent the night at the hospital last night. Yesterday morning, around 4 am, she woke up wheezing and couldn't stop coughing. We gave her a breathing treatment, but that didn't help so Darin took her to the emergency room. They came home around 8 and Karidee was struggling to breathe. I asked Darin if she was like this at the hospital. He said the Dr that treated her gave her a steroid shot and said that it would take time to kick in. We felt uneasy about the whole thing so we rushed her over to see her Pediatrician. Her Dr. was horrified that they sent her home like that. Her oxygen levels were really low. Low enough that her Dr. wanted to call an ambulance to pick her up. Her office is right down the street from the hospital though. We could get her there faster. So that's what we did. Darin drove her over again while her Dr. called ahead to the pediatrics department to have a room and oxygen ready. When we got there we were treated like celebrities... especially Karidee. Probably damage control for the ER dr's bad call for sending a 2 year old having a bad asthma attack home. Any how, once we were in the room they hooked her up to an IV for fluids and medicine. She was also put on oxygen... all day yesterday and all night. The poor baby's loud wheezing and heavy/fast breathing didn't really stop until earlier this afternoon. It was awful. I made it 12 hours yesterday with out crying for Karidee... then I lost for about an hour. The sweetest man from our ward came to help Darin give her a blessing of healing. I felt much better after that. And she did better after that. By morning she was our regular, cute and funny, crazy, energetic Karidee. We were so happy to see that. We were able to bring her home this evening.
